La Familia Artist In Residence program hosts 3-4 guests with a select number of opportunities available for artist couples. We accept applicants from around the world in the following mediums:

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS:

:: The La Familia Artist Residency program is designed for emerging and mid-career artists over the age of twenty-one who are seeking direction, inspiration, and reflection. Artists must be actively pursuing their creative careers with passion and integrity.

:: Travel costs, arrangements, transportation and research are the responsibilities of the artists. La Familia Gallery does not assist with any travel planning for the Artist Residence.

:: Artists are required to provide 20 hours per week of community service. Talkeetna’s diverse non-profits provide many rich and varied opportunities to give back.

:: Artists’ housing is donated by La Familia Directors. During occupancy, artists are subject to the rules and regulations of the a Residency Agreement and must provide a deposit against damage, usually in the form of credit card information. Separate studio facilities are not available in Talkeetna: artists must be prepared to create in limited space or. within the natural environment.

:: Family or friends are not invited. Housing arrangements for artists do not extend to guests and are not the responsibility of La Familia Gallery. There are no exceptions.

:: Although Artists in Residence are required to supply their own food, La Familia does provide a basic pantry with non-perishable, staples such as flour and sugar. A complete list of provided items will be provided with your acceptance letter.

:: La Familia Gallery does not offer any stipends, grants or scholarships for the Artist Residence at this time.

:: Artists are expected to write a 500 - 1000 word article upon completion of their Artist Residence that documents their experience.

RESIDENCY COSTS

Application Fee :: $35
Background Check :: $35 (Due only upon acceptance)
Residence Fee :: $125 per week
Sample Cost for 4 week Artist Residence :: $570

RESIDENCY APPLICATION PROCEDURE

YOU: Complete the online Alaskan Artist in Residence form and submit your $35 application fee. here

LFG: After submitting your application and application fee, you will receive a confirmation e-mail.

LFG: La Familia Directors will review your application and respond no less then 60 days before your requested dates with our decision. LFG will only respond to those selected for the Artist Residence.

YOU: If you have been accepted, you will then have 72 hours to accept or deny the residency. Upon acceptance you will be required to pay $35 processing fee that will cover a background check to help ensure the safety of the Artist Residence. Felons will not be accepted.

LFG: If we do not hear from you within 48 hours, the residency will be offered to another artist. If you accept we will process the background check and send you the Residency Agreement.

YOU: Review and sign the Residency Agreement and send it back to La Familia Gallery with the full payment outlined in the Residency Agreement as well as a credit card which will be used to cover your damage deposit.
